Conservation and Improvement Project - Week Ending 29th April 2016

This week the electrician has been on site adding example lighting to the Hall so that its possible to make a choice about the lighting solution. The plumber finished off adding the radiators in the toilets and also connected the hot water supply to the sinks. Graham Haydon's team were on site and hung the large oak doors that will be glazed. The Parish Hall Committee met at the Hall on Friday evening to decide on the lighting solution and to agree the direction of the wooden flooring that is planned to be installed within two weeks.

Conservation and Improvement Project - Week Ending 22nd April 2016

This week Richard Frost, our Master Thatcher, has reached the ridge. The plasterwork around the new glazed door frame has been completed. The walls have been decorated in lime-wash with a parchment tone. The electrician has been on site and has started to fit the electrical sockets and light switches, and the down-lighters over the stage have been installed. The wall panelling has been painted and is near completion. On Monday we held our Project Finance Team meeting to review our expenditure and budgets. We remain on target to complete within budget and will now need to apply to Heritage Lottery for the second instalment of their grant. On Thursday we held our weekly Project Team meeting to monitor progress and plan the next phase of work.

Conservation and Improvement Project - Week Ending 01st April 2016

This week has predominantly focussed on constructing the stage and repairing the internal plaster work where necessary.

The gallery of the stage is being boarded by reusing the flooring that was removed from the old Hall floor. We can now get the full impression of the stage and the timbers of the ceiling.

Cracks in the corners of the south wall need to be pinned and loose plaster has been removed and re-plastering has started. Where the walls have been channelled to take electricity cabling, these have now been filled. As with lime plaster the layers have to be built up slowly.

The Parish Hall Committee met this week and agreed the colour for the panelling.

The weekly project monitoring meeting was held on Thursday with Richard Boxall, Richard Slee and Steve Baber.
