The first job was to get the floor levels correct as a foundation for the new floor. The main area to move ground materials was the area that was originally under the stage. Richard and his team used a smaller digger and mechanical barrows and moved the removed materials into skips that were taken off site.
When this work was completed a radon sump was fitted into the ground that will sit under the new floor. While this is not an area of radon concern installing the sump now is a sensible approach to ensuring the Hall has reduced any risk to its lowest possible level.
The floor surface then had to be levelled using a mix of concrete and blinding sand. On top of this a damp-proof membrane was laid and this will prevent any rising dampness.
The concrete sub-floor needs to be reinforced with metal messing and this was installed as the last job for the first week.
Well done to Richard Slee and his team for reaching this target.
